Bengaluru’s rapid urbanization curve has come at a huge cost – water bodies that have been a lifeline have fallen pray to this. Once a big draw for migratory birds, today these lakes have been sadly reduced to prime real estate or festering pools of sewage and industrial effluents. The consequences of these actions are there for all to see and more importantly to live with – ground water drying up, fish dying by the thousands and lakes that froth and stink.
The time now is for drastic action and the residents of Horamavu Agara (near Banaswadi) area have come together to salvage one such lake in the neighbourhood. In an attempt to seek immediate intervention by responsible civic bodies for the rejuvenation, maintenance and upkeep of the Horamavu Agara Kere, a walkathon has been organized on Sunday, the 2nd of April, 2017. The Save Horamavu Agara Lake Walkathonevent will be flagged off by Honourable area MLA, Shri. Byrathi Basavaraj in the presence of distinguished BBMP officials, Local Leaders and residents.
Our voices can be heard louder and farther if you as a prominent media entity join us and provide a platform for our presence to resonate across the city. Help us become the catalyst to encourage other associations and civic committees to launch similar initiatives to prevent our water bodies from dying a slow and painful death.
We invite you to come and show your support by walking with us on 02ndApril, 2017.
