Blueair says 2016 Will See Its Disruptive Indoor Air Purification Technologies Making Health Enhancing Breakthroughs

Bangalore, December 31, 2015 – Blueair today said it will leverage its global consumer insight programs, best practice research, development and production processes and smarter connected indoor air cleaning technologies during 2016 to meet new global demand for safer, healthier environments. Blueair is the world’s leading independent indoor air purification brand with millions of air purifiers being used in homes, workplaces, commercial premises such as hotels, and government institutions in over 60 countries, including India, China, the USA, South Korea, Japan and Europe.

“Blueair intends to usher in a new era of safer indoor air environments at home and work by overcoming the limits of national governments to tackle air pollution in real time, at home or work,” said Blueair founder and CEO Bengt Rittri.

Vijay Kannan, India Head of Blueair India said, “We are aiming to boost our retail network in 2016 to keep up with the demand for air purifiers in India. Past 9-10 months, there’s been an explosion in demand and we are expecting similar trend next year as well.”

In early January 2016, Blueair will launch the world’s first fully working, fully connected indoor air monitoring, control and purification system to remove health-sapping airborne pollutants to 1,500 journalists, bloggers and analysts at the annual Showstoppers Media Event at CES, January 6, 2016, in Las Vegas, USA.

Mr. Rittri said, “The launch would spearhead a series of blockbusting new Blueair technologies and products planned for release throughout 2016 designed to help people harness intelligent air defense systems to combat allergies and other maladies that threaten health and lower productivity.”

Noting that air pollution is now recognized as a huge environmental disaster behind rising respiratory diseases and millions of deaths worldwide, Mr. Rittri pointed to a new Chinese study by scientists at Shanghai’s Fudan University – published by the Journal of the American College of Cardiology – that found using an air purifier ‘efficiently reduced’ fine particles in indoor air and led to improved heart and lung function.

“We’re going the extra mile to develop air purification solutions that give women and men – as individuals or parents of young children, whether in Beijing, Delhi, London or Los Angeles – the peace of mind they deserve about the air they breathing,” said Mr. Rittri.  “With Blueair, people everywhere can feel confident we’re not taking lightly the trust they place in us to protect them and those close to them with superbly performing air purifiers that give compelling wellbeing benefits.”

The Company was founded by Mr. Rittri twenty years ago in Sweden with the ethos that clean air is a basic human right. We are working relentlessly to empower consumers to transform the quality of the air they breathe with smart new technologies that create safer havens at home or work or protect them outdoors from air pollution threats.

COAI lauds the Jharkhand Communication Towers and Related Structures Policy

Aimed at promoting ICT and IT-based communication projects, the state has shown the way to all Governments on how good policy can trigger growth

Bangalore, December 30, 2015COAI today welcomed the Jharkhand Communication Towers and Related Structures Policy, 2015, that has paved the way for seamless mobile telephony and an efficient communications network in Jharkhand. Aimed at strengthening the communications and information infrastructure in the state, the new policy is indicative of the state government’s intent to achieve greater and inclusive connectivity in Jharkhand, especially in rural and remote areas.

One of the most forward looking tower policies in the country, the State’s policy makes provision for a Single-Window Clearance System to clear all new and pending applications for installing new mobile towers in the state. The Policy also allows for mobile towers to be set up in all types of residential, multi-storeyed, industrial and institutional buildings, and on open lands, a move that will give operators and mobile service providers the resources they need to ensure uninterrupted flow of mobile telephony services in the state. The Policy also specifies rational charges for setting up new mobile towers, including nominal registration charges such as INR 20,000 to the Municipal Corporation, INR 15,000 to Nagar Parishads and Nagar Panchayats, and INR 10,000 to Panchayat Samiti areas to install a mobile tower.

This move augurs well for the citizens of Jharkhand as the benefits of increasing teledensity on overall economic development ‎has been well established. Citizens can now look forward to increasing opportunities arising from internet connectivity and online applications that help with education, health and government services.

Lauding the move, Mr. Rajan S Mathews, Director General, COAI, said, “We welcome the Jharkhand Towers and Related Structures Policy, 2015, which is a very positive development for the industry. Besides allowing towers to be set up on residential buildings and open lands, the Policy also has a provision for setting up towers atop government and semi-government buildings. This is in line with the views of the Hon’ble Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, and will definitely put Jharkhand among the top most well connected states in the country. We urge other states governments to implement similar conducive mobile tower policies.”

The Jharkhand Tower Policy has come as a breath of fresh air for the industry, which has for long been affirming the need for a uniform tower policy in the country to enable the setting up of a robust communication network that will help operators to not only battle challenges like call drops, but also put in greater effort to taking the country closer to the Government’s ambitious plans of a Digital India.

Bentley Systems Honors Peter Blake of Hatch with Lifetime Achievement Award

Attendees at London Year in Infrastructure 2015 Conference Applaud Visionary Leader for a Career Dedicated to Advancing Use of Innovative Technologies

Bangalore – The Year in Infrastructure 2015Conference – 2 November 2015 – Bentley Systems, Incorporated, a leading global provider of comprehensive software solutions for advancing infrastructure, today presented J.P. (Peter) Blake, Director, Project Delivery Group for Hatch Chile, with its Lifetime Achievement Award. Blake was recognized for his exceptional vision, numerous career achievements, leadership, and effectiveness as a change agent, having tirelessly advocated throughout his career for improving infrastructure workflows through the better application of advanced technologies. Equally important, he was honored as a great friend and mentor to the infrastructure community at large.

Blake has served Hatch for more than four decades, playing a key role in its initial forays into CAD implementation and then 3D modeling, as well as managing assignments in equipment design, project engineering, and project management. Hatch is an employee-owned professional services firm that provides consulting, information technology, engineering, process development, and project and construction management to the mining, metallurgical, energy, and infrastructure sectors. Hatch has six decades of project experience in more than 150 countries, 10,000 people in 65 offices, and currently manages over $35 billion in projects.

Randy McMeekin, Hatch’s Managing Director of Engineering, said, “Peter is one of the most visionary and innovative people that we’ve had in the company. To me, he’s been a trusted advisor and a great mentor to this day.”

In recalling their work together in the late ’90s on a project for Stillwater Mining, McMeekin remarked, “He had the vision that to achieve schedule, we could go with a very lean engineering approach – that is, we would not make any paper deliverables. Against a lot of resistance from the project team, he drove us to the point where we actually built an entire smelter from a 3D model. That was true innovation.”

McMeekin continued, “I think many of the visionary thoughts that Peter had 30 years ago are now standard in the industry. Peter saw it a long time ago, that the world needed data and a 3D environment, that software was always getting better and bandwidth was always going to get better.”

Commenting on his long business relationship with Blake, Bentley Systems Senior Vice President Rob Whitesell said, “Peter is always thinking about what is the next big idea, how we can apply technologies from different areas to answer an engineering problem. He breaks that down in a way that is really easy for us to understand and is a great partner to work with. Moreover, he is a very warm individual, very personable. Peter is the kind of person who will take you into his home for dinner – definitely a relationship person. It’s always been a big part of doing business with him.”

Fiatech Director Ray Topping said about Blake’s many contributions to Fiatech and its work transforming the world’s infrastructure delivery and operations, “Peter has been active on the Fiatech board of directors for many years, dating back to before I became the director five years ago and served with Peter on the board. In 2012 and 2013, Peter led the Fiatech organization as board chairman, and during that time we developed and published our three-year strategic plan, delivered many industry advancements in our Fiatech projects, and had strong membership growth. His inspirational leadership and inclusive approach brings companies together, even competitors, for the greater good of the capital projects industry, for which he has tremendous passion.”

In presenting the award, Bentley Systems CEO Greg Bentley said, “Through his steadfast confidence in advanced technology to drive significant improvement in work processes, and with remarkable vision that has kept him one step ahead of the crowd, Peter Blake has been an effective change agent for our industry as a whole. But even more than that, he has been instrumental in influencing technology companies – including Bentley Systems – to further improve our offerings, patiently guiding us and helping us understand how we could improve product features and functionality. More importantly, he taught uswhy we should do it, emphasizing all the while that more advanced technology was needed ‘yesterday!’ For this, and for all Peter Blake has done through his important contributions to improving quality of life through infrastructure, he well deserves our Lifetime Achievement Award. Thank you, Peter Blake.”

Peter Blake said, “I am honored to have been selected as the recipient of this award, and am deeply humbled by all of the kind words expressed about me. What hasn’t been said is that my work seeking opportunities to drive improvements in an industry whose future is perennially made brighter thanks to advances in technology has been an exciting journey for me. I particularly enjoyed working with technology companies like Bentley that were willing to listen to industry needs and actively seek creative solutions to filling them. My thanks go to all who have stood with me as we forged ahead with change for the better.”
